Profile

In school I studied mechanical engineering and production systems engineering.

I joined hoping to work in design, but I've stayed in the manufacturing department I was first assigned to ever since.

Before I knew it, I'd been made group leader.

01Work

The Work, and Why I Joined

What does your job involve?

I mainly polish, assemble, and adjust molds.

I hand-polish the parts that come in from the machining departments, make fine adjustments, and complete the mold.

I also use general-purpose machine tools such as NC milling machines and surface grinders.

What led you to join Nagatsu?

I learned that the company made the exterior housings for mobile phones. I didn't know anything about molds, but I got curious about how they're made.

02Rewards

What Makes It Rewarding, and What Comes Next

What moments in your work have made you happy, moved you, or been fun?

I'm happy when a mold with a difficult shape or mechanism is finished.

It's also rewarding when customers rate the product highly.

What has been hard in your work, or what are you struggling with now?

Many of our molds have complex shapes, so the manual adjustments are tough.

Even after the parts have been machined, the final fine-tuning takes human hands.

In what ways do you feel you've grown through your work?

When I've gained the knowledge and skills to solve a problem without relying on my senior colleagues.

What are your goals going forward?

To keep improving my own skills, and to focus on guiding and training junior staff.

03Workplace

The Workplace, and What Makes the Company Attractive

What is the atmosphere like at the company?

There are all kinds of people here: energetic ones, quiet ones, ones with a few quirks...

But there's no stiffness, so you can talk to anyone without hesitation.

What do you find appealing about the company?

As long as you're motivated, you can be at the forefront of moldmaking.

Seniority doesn't matter. People who take the work seriously are fairly evaluated.

What do you value most in your working life here?

Above all, staying calm.

When things aren't going well, my work, thinking, and words tend to get sloppy,

so at those times I make a point of settling myself down.

What kind of person do you think would do well here?

In my department, I think people with perseverance and stamina are a good fit.

For the company as a whole, I think people who notice small details are a good fit.

A Message to Applicants

It doesn't matter at all if you have no mold skills or knowledge right now.

As long as you're motivated, you'll pick them up naturally through the work.

If you have even a little interest in molds, we'd love to have you at Nagatsu.
